Question

The 1099 NEC status in my account says "Accepted" and they have not been received by the contractors. Does that mean they were processed?

Greetings!

Let me share some insights about your concern regarding the 1099 NEC status account that says "Accepted," but the contractors have not received it in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) will keep track of your 1099 form while you send it to the IRS. It will also notify you about the progress of your filing. The statuses you have mentioned help with indicating whether the IRS has received your form or if it is still pending. Indeed, the IRS has already accepted and processed the form.

You are required to send 1099s to the IRS and your contractors by January 31. We recommend that you e-file before January 28 at 5:00 PM PT to ensure that your 1099s can be postmarked to your contractors by January 31. You can e-file 1099s through January 31 to be on time with the IRS. E-file is open until April 30.

I'd also recommend checking out these articles to learn more about how to prepare and file your Federal 1099s, and how to add contractors and track payments you make to them with QuickBooks Online:

That'll do it. If you have other questions about 1099 in QuickBooks Online, please let me know and I'll zip right back to help you. Keep Safe!
