Question

There are not details under the Account QuickReport

I'm using the QuickBook Desktop Pro 2020.

Everthing was fine at the beginning, but there is just a Summary Amount showing up in the Account QuickReport, not details.

Even I double click this summary amount, same page coming out, not details.

Thank you!!

Uncommon program behavior can lead to incorrect business reporting and that isn't the experience we want you to have, Mandy. Let's resolve this data error so you can continue with your essential tasks without any disruptions.

When you click on the Total Summary Amount on a specific report, you'll be certainly routed to a particular page that breaks down all transactions that contributed to the total amount. However, if you're routed to the same page of the report after clicking the total amount, then we can run a Verify and Rebuild Data process that can help identify and fix unusual data errors.

Here's how you can perform these steps:

  1. Go to Window and Close All.
  2. Navigate to File, then select Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data. Moreover, if you see:
  4. QuickBooks detected no problems with your data - your data is clean, and you don't need to do anything.
  5. If an error shows, search for it on our QuickBooks Desktop support site to learn how to resolve it.
  6. Your data has lost integrity - There is data damage in your file. If this happens, consider rebuilding your data.

To Rebuild your company file, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to File, choose Utilities, and then select Rebuild Data.
  2. QuickBooks will prompt you to create a backup before rebuilding your company file. Click OK. A backup is mandatory before proceeding.
  3. Choose a location to save your backup and click OK. Ensure you don't overwrite an existing backup file. Provide a new name in the File Name field and click Save.
  4. Once the rebuild is complete, you will see a message indicating Rebuild has completed. Click OK.
  5. To check for further issues, go back to File, select Utilities, and then choose Verify Data.
  6. If the verification process detects more errors, you'll need to address them manually. Locate the errors in the qbwin.log by searching the QuickBooks Desktop support site for solutions.
  7. If the error isn't listed or persists, consider restoring from a recent backup. Go to File and select Open or Restore Company.

Moreover, you can export reports as Excel workbooks if you want to analyze them out of QuickBooks and have the flexibility to include information relevant to your business needs.

Your patience throughout this process showcases your dedication to maintaining precise records, so kudos for taking the initiative. Should you require additional help with running reports in QBDT moving forward, don’t hesitate to leave a comment.

@MandyZhang-  That would be because you're working with the Retained Earnings account.

This account represents the cumulative effect of the net profit and net losses of prior years.

That is, at the end of each year, QB will automatically roll over that year's net income to Retained Earnings. This is necessary in order to both show your actual net income each year, and maintain a proper balance sheet.

I don't know if there's a way to force it to show you the individual make-up of it, but it's not really relevant anyway; that account is made up of every single income and expense transaction that has been entered into your company prior to the current year.

That is to say, the details would be pretty useless. If you still want them, you'd be just as well off making a Custom Detail Report for just income, expense, other income and other expense accounts for last year and prior.
