Question

There seems to be some kind of sales tax related update to QuickBooks online but has rendered the app inoperable for creating invoices. Anyone have any feedback?

Android OS.  Invoice screen on app as new line asking about tax included or excluded in prices?  Can't save or process invoices?

    Let's work together to resolve and fix this issue so you can save and process invoices using the QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile app, DonH68.

     

    Installing the latest version of the QBO app on your mobile device ensures you have the most recent features and fixes. Uninstall (tap and hold the app icon) it first, and then perform the procedure below to redownload it on your device. For Android devices, follow these steps:

     

    1. Download the QuickBooks Mobile App.
    2. Open Google Play on your device and search for QuickBooks Online. This app works on smartphones and tablets. (It may not be available in some countries).
    3. Select Install.
    4. Use the same user ID and password to sign in to the app.
    5. You may be asked to enter a one-time code to confirm your identity. Once confirmed, you can continue into your account.

     

    After signing in, create your invoices using the QBO app.

     

    Additionally, you can make quick changes to your invoice templates right from the mobile app. You may want to check out this article on how to do this: Customize invoices on the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

    Reinstalling app did not help.

     

    Here is a screenshot of the new thing that popped up on the invoice screen of the app.....

     

     

    "Sales Tax is..." With a drop down. Never seen this before. This is what is causing the problems.

    I'll share some information about invoicing with sales tax in the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

     

    According to your screenshot, the sales tax drop-down option appears on your invoice only if you've configured specific sales tax settings for your customers or products and services items. 

     

    With that, you can go to the web version of QuickBooks Online on a computer and review your sales tax settings to ensure that they are properly configured. Here's an article you can use as a reference: Set up your sales tax in QuickBooks Online. This resource will show you how to configure your sales tax, including how to turn it off.

     

    Additionally, if you continue to have issues with the sales tax when creating invoices in the QBO mobile app, I'd recommend reading our Support Team for further assistance.

    I am having the same issue and QB has been absolutely no help.

    It was magically fixed for half a day..... Then went back to the same thing again.  Why don't they make sure stuff works before changing it and alert people to it.  Now this new invoice format they rolled out took the message box off the invoices....wtf

      Verified item is set up correctly but mobile app still requires tax and then will not let you add one.

      Since you're unable to save or process invoices in relation to sales taxes, I'd recommend performing some of our recommended troubleshooting processes.
       

      Here's how:
       

      1. Reset your app's data by going to QuickBooks Settings, and hitting Refresh Data.
      2. Clear the app's cache by going to Phone Settings, Apps, QuickBooks, Storage, then tapping Clear Cache.
      3. Check for any available updates to your application, and update if necessary.
      4. Reinstall the app.
      5. Sign out and back in.
      6. Reboot the device.
      7. Switch to a different internet connection or mobile network.
      8. Check for any available Android updates and perform them if necessary.


      If you're still unable to save or process invoices because of required sales tax which can't be added, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team and reference our investigation (INV-102102) about this topic. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and re-open the investigation if necessary.
