Solved

Today I found my inventory names (product names) duplicated. They show again, a second time, but with a number is parenthesis after it. Do you know why this happened?

For example...I have an inventory name "nm-12664." Right below that entry I have a duplicate one that says "nm-12664 (54)." Why did this happen and how do I get rid of the duplicate. What does the number in parenthesis mean?

Let's check why inventories are duplicated in QuickBooks, craftedgift-hotm.

Duplicate inventory items will have a [name] - copy under the Name column. Here's a screenshot for your visual guide.

You may want to check if the nm-12664 (54) was re-imported. Or someone made changes to their names. You can use the Audit log feature to determine who made the changes.

Let me guide you through the steps on how to use the Audit log.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Audit Log.
  2. Select Filter.
  3. Use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate UserDate, or Events filter to narrow the results.
  4. Click Apply.

Select View in the History column to open the audit history. This tells you who made the change and what they did.

You can refer to this link to learn more about this and how to use it: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online. It has a quick video tutorial and determines the name of the user who made the changes.

In case you need to delete duplicate items, please refer to this link: How to edit, delete, and restore list elements. It'll tell you how to bulk remove those double entries.
