Question

Transactions not on a project (Report)

Hi, it's important for my business that I see all transactions that are not currently assigned to a project report. This way, I know that nothing is being left off of an open project and I'm billing at 100%. Has anybody found a way to do this? It appears that QuickBooks online doesn't really prioritize this kind of report, but I'm wondering if there's a workaround.

Hello there, @pleasegiveusanemail.

I understand the importance of seeing all the transactions not assigned to a project. Let me show you some steps to get this sorted out.

To better track your expenses, consider running a purchases by vendor detail report and adding customer columns. This will help you easily identify any line items or expenses that aren't associated with a specific project.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports and use the Find report by name search bar for reports by name.
  2. Type Purchases by Vendor Detail and click enter to open.
  3. Go to Columns at the upper right corner and choose Customer.

Now, you can finally see the line items and expenses that don't have a project associated.

Moreover, I'm adding this article as your guide in customizing your reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
