Trial Balance

We changed fiscal years and I'm trying to get a 6 month stub period trial balance. The default TB report appears to be hardwired to show activity for the trailing 12 months as of the specified ending date.  Entering a custom date range does not solve this problem.

 

Our auditors are requiring a 6 month trial balance report and I need some help creating this.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community, jtown. I've got steps to ensure you can get the data that you need in your Trial Balance report in QuickBooks Online.

 

I recommend running and customizing the mentioned report by modifying the Columns setting to Months. This allows you to get the six-month stub period trial balance data.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Reports menu at the left panel.
  2. Browse the list and choose Trial Balance.
  3. Click the Customize button.
  4. Go to the Columns box and choose Months.
  5. Click Run report.

I'm here to help you run a 9-month period Trial Balance report in QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018.

 

To run a 9-month period Trial Balance report in QuickBooks Desktop, you choose to customize the Dates field. Choose the date period you want in the From and To fields. Here's how to run the report: 

 

  1. Go to Reports on the top menu.
  2. Choose Accountant & Taxes.
  3. Select Trial Balance.
  4. Choose Custom in the Dates period and enter the date period in the From and To fields.
  5. On the Report Basis, choose Accrual or Cash. 
  6. Press the Refresh tab.
