Trial balance showing the wrong report period

When I make a trial balance report for last quarter (1/10/2019 to 31/12/2019), instead the numbers showing up are the last six months. I only discovered this because the numbers seemed extremely high for a 3 month period.

(Yes, I click on run report after setting the dates, I have tried setting dates to 'custom' and then the dates, I've tried the preset 'last quarter' etc., it doesn't make a difference.)

So my workaround is now having to click on each line item separately, adjust the transaction report start dates (which are somehow set for 1/7/2019 instead of 1/10/2019) and then make my own excel version. 

It seems to be working fine for all other reports, just the trial balance is giving issues.

There’s already an open ticket about the issue you’re experiencing when running the Trial Balance Report. Rest assured, our product engineers are diligently working towards finding a permanent fix.


While waiting for the solution, I recommend signing up for the notification list. This way, you’ll receive email updates about the investigation.


The process requires the collection of sensitive information. I will not be able to perform it here in the Community for security reasons.


I recommend you get in touch with our QBO Care Team since they can add the company in a secure space. Here’s how:

 

  1. Go to the Help icon at the top to select the Contact Us link.
  2. This will open another window where you can enter the issue/topic.
  3. Once done, click on the Let’s talk button to view the support information.
  4. Choose how you want to contact our QBO Care Team: Message an agent or Get a callback.
  5. Provide the following number to expedite the process: INV-24608.

Hello Danoo!

 

I'm joining this thread so I can explain how the Trial Balance works.

 

The Trial Balance lists all accounts on your Chart of Accounts and their totals as either debits or credits. This report does not function on a "From-To" basis but only on as of date. This means that only the "To" date is functional and can be changed.

 

What I can suggest is to send feedback to our engineers to have the "From" date function so it can be modified. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.

 

I appreciate that you shared your workaround here. You'll want to continue the same process until your request will be implemented.

Hi, 


I just am wondering if there has been a fix for this known issue.  I am running into the same problem where I am trying to pull a trial balance of last fiscal year and I am only getting data on the last 6 months. 

 

Can you please advise if there is a fix for this?

I am having pretty much the same problem when running a trail balance. It doesn’t matter what dates I put in it give me the same numbers. Which seems like totals for the entire time I have using QB not just the year I am looking at

Please know that the Trial Balance in QBO shows the closing balance of each account over a given period to ensure the debit and credit balances are equal.

 

Since it gives you the same numbers even after customizing the date periods, I recommend contacting our live support team. By doing so, they will be able to access your account securely and ensure that the correction is made.

  1. Sign in with your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. In the upper right corner, click on the (?) Help icon.
  3. Select Search, then click Contact Us.
