Unable to disable dark theme from quickbooks labs

Hello all,

 

I enabled Dark theme when I first started using quickbooks online a little over a year ago. It was a little weird but usable and easier on the eyes.

 

Skip to the middle of this year it’s basically unusable. I’d like to turn it off, but quickbooks labs is no longer available and there is no other way to disable the feature. It’s gotten to the point where I either need this disabled or I’m going to have to switch to different accounting software from all the time it wastes. Any advice is appreciated.

 

I’ve tried support and they told me they couldn’t help and to leave feedback, which isn’t really an acceptable outcome here. 

Edit to add more information: it’s something with my account. Doesn’t matter which device or browser I use, it’s always unusable dark theme. Have tried several computers, browsers, and my phone.

Yes, you are right. QuickBooks Labs is no longer available. However, if you want to disable this feature, QuickBooks Online Advance has an option to turn off the dark theme. I suggest upgrading your subscription to achieve your goal. 

 

Here’s how to upgrade your QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription:

 

The first step is to choose QuickBooks Advance. 

See the available pricing plans to check the available features of a new subscription. 

 

The next step is to upgrade to a new subscription.

 

  1. Set up your QBO as a primary or company admin.
  2. In Settings, select Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Check if your payment info is up to date.
  4. In the QBO section, choose Upgrade your plan.
  5. Check the available plans and then click Choose plan.
  6. Follow the on-screen steps to upgrade your plan.

 

Otherwise, you can send a message to our development team. This way, they can review your concern and may consider it for future product enhancements.

  1.  Select the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.
  2.  Type in your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Select Next to submit.

If I do choose to upgrade my subscription to turn it off, can I downgrade afterwards? Also, could I get instructions on how to disable it assuming I’m on an upgraded subscription?

 

Thank you for the response. Feels like a poor user experience to have to upgrade my subscription to opt out of a feature I was able to opt into for free

    The option to downgrade after upgrading the subscription is possible. However, this doesn't guarantee you can turn off the feature because QuickBooks Lab was already removed.

     

    The QuickBooks Lab access point has been removed from the Gear Icon. The decision was made to allow customers who enabled Themes to retain access temporarily. Since you previously enabled Themes, you will continue to have access via Gear Icon > Themes.
