User Roles: Project Reports

What role do I need to assign--or what settings do I need to check when creating a custom role--to allow my department managers to access Project reports (profitability, project time, estimates vs actuals)--WITHOUT allowing full Admin access to sensitive financial company information? I have a role created with full access to Sales, full access to Reports: Projects, but still users with this role can't access Project Profitability and other reports . . .

I appreciate your effort and what you've done so far, greensman

Looking for the right user role and access permissions can be challenging, especially when it comes to balancing access to crucial project reports with the need to protect sensitive financial information. I'll give you some insights to help your department managers get the information they need while maintaining security.

You can add your department managers as View report-only users. This is a non-billable user who can view all reports except those containing payroll or contact information. They can also create custom reports and report groups, but they cannot see the actual transactions.

If you need more information about the different user roles and access permissions, see this link as a reference: User roles and access rights.

I'm adding this as a future resource in case you also want to know how to keep track of user's activities and what they did: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be checking this thread if you still have follow-up questions or other concerns about adding and managing users. Have a wonderful day!
