Can I change the "compare another period" classification from "Income" to another GL, I want to look at Gross Income which would eliminate the discounts offered.  And therefore, compare expenses to Gross Income,

I want to compare all accounts to Gross Sales.  We have discounts that are part of the Income Total.  However, I want to compare to just the Gross sales lines.  So Net Income is made up of multiple Revenue GL's and multiple Discount GL's.  For % of Income I would like to compare it to % of the Multiple Revenue GL's or "Gross Income".

I'm here to help you generate a comparison report for your sales and net income. WK10.

For now, these are only the lists of reports that QuickBooks Online (QBO) offers. You can run a Profit and Loss Comparison report to generate and compare data from the previous year or period. This report will compare your income and expenses for different time period and compare your performance for this week, month or year to other time frames.

At the same time, since not all the information are available with the P&L report, you can run other reports like Sales by Product/Service Detail report that will show discount of each product or item. Once done export to Excel file to consolidate it to one report.

To generate a report, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Enter Profit and Loss Comparison in the search field. You can also find the same report under the Standard tab.

For more information on how you can change the length of time dates with this report, go through this article for more details: Run A Profit And Loss Comparison Report In QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, there are many ways how you can filter specific information so it shows the right data you need. I've added this article for your reference: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Online.
