I changed the company phone number, but this morning the SMS verification number went to the old phone not the new one.  How can this be corrected?

Welcome to the Community, Oycca.

I'm here to provide step-by-step guidance to resolve the issue of receiving the verification code on your old number instead of the new one, despite updating it in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

First, ensure the modifications went through your QBO account by checking your QB information on your Intuit Account page. To do so, you can follow the steps below.

  1. Log into your QBO account, then click your Profile icon next to the Gear Icon.
  2. Click Manage your Intuit Account.
  3. In the left panel under Intuit Account, select Sign in & Security.
  4. Review the Phone section if it instills your new phone number.

If the number appears correct on the Phone section, perform troubleshooting steps so that any changes made to your QB account apply. Start by logging in to your QuickBooks Online account using a private or incognito browser.  You can utilize these keyboard shortcuts below.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

From there, produce a verification code and check if it went to your new number. If it did, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache, which helps clean up browser cookies that block web pages from loading and refresh the website.

However, if the verification transmits to your old number, you can use the Account Recovery feature of QBO. It is a request that only you can make changes to your Intuit Account since our QB support team doesn't have access to modifying your information. If you submit your application within the business hours of Mondays to Fridays between 8 am and 5 pm, following the Pacific Time Zone, the process will only take one working day.

Furthermore, kindly note the following procedures below, as this will be the procedure for retrieving your account.

  1. Take a high-quality photo or scan of your driver's license, state ID, passport, or notarized document.
  2. Fill out the form with your information, and upload your ID or document.
  3. Look for an email with the steps from no_response@intuit.com within one business day. You will receive a link to reset your password after the approval of the request.

Moreover, you can check out this article to know more about the steps taken when unable to log into your QBO account: Recover your Intuit Account if you can’t sign in.

Let me know if you have additional questions or concerns about the verification code inquiry with your QBO. You can reach out to the Community at any time, Oycca. Take care!
