Wasn't there an option in QBOA to set up client templates? Can't seem to find it.

Hello there, rmrowel.

 

Thanks for getting back to us. I'm here to help and ensure that you're able to import Chart of Accounts (COA) for your clients in QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA). 

 

As of now, QBOA doesn't have any feature to automatically copy the company templates of COA from different clients. For the meantime, you can import an existing COA from a spreadsheet. 

 

Here's how: 

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Under Tools, choose Import Data.
  3. Select Chart of Accounts.
  4. Make sure your file fits the requirements for import and has Account Type and Name fields.
  5. On the Import Accounts page, select the Browse button.
  6. Find and select the Excel file to import and select Open.
  7. Select Next to continue.
  8. Map your data and select Next.
  9. Adjust your data if necessary and select Import.

If you need further assistance with the steps, I recommend calling our QuickBooks Online Accountant Support Team. They have additional tools to pull up your account in a secure environment and do a remote session.

I see now. A little more research and I found out it was a lab option that qbo decided to ditch for some reason. Pity

Hello rmrowel,

 

The function to allow accountants create templates for their clients are added under the Work menu. Let me show you how:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online Accountant account.
  2. Select Work on the left menu and click the Manage templates button.
  3. Click the Create template button and enter the template name and details.
  4. Click the Add a task and select Save template.

Thanks but that is not the type of template I was referring to.  I have a client that is considering bringing multiple entities into QBOA.  I was looking to create a standard chart of accounts etc that I could use with each one rather then having to start from scratch.  I realize I can import a spreadsheet but I thought there was a way to do this.
