Hi there, melvin1. I understand how important it is for you to add a sales tax to your customers. Let me provide additional information about adding sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

In QBO, it's important to set up your taxes so you can add them for your customers. There are a couple of reasons why you're unable to add sales in QBO:

  • The region of your customer isn't taxable.
  • You haven't set up your sales tax in QBO.
  • Your product/services in your inventory was not marked check as Taxable.

If you aren't able to set up your sales, no worries, I can help you how to set up.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes. Select Sales tax.
  2. Select Add/edit tax rates and agencies under the Related Tasks list.
  3. Click New and choose if you want a single or combined tax rate.
  4. Enter the name of the tax agency you pay and the percentage rate.
  5. Select Save.

Furthermore, if you've already set up your sales tax but are unable to add sales tax, consider performing browser troubleshooting steps in your QBO account. Sometimes, your browser's cache may affect QBO's performance.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to view your customer list again. Here are some steps that can resolve unexpected results in QBO:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If you can successfully log in using a private browser, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. If not, you can use a different supported browser.
