Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. I'll share some details on how you can categorize your star car service in QuickBooks Self-Employed and how it works.

When you categorize, QuickBooks puts your transactions on the correct line of your Schedule C. This also organizes your income and expenses so you know what areas of your self-employed business have the biggest impact. For the most up-to-date Schedule C info, check the IRS website.

There is a specific categorization of every entry. One of them is Car and Truck expenses. These are costs related to the business use for a vehicle in which you can use QuickBooks Self-Employed to track the actual cost of gas, oil, repairs, insurance, tires, and license plates (but not depreciation). You can choose each of the categories below that fits your car services.

  • Vehicle insurance
  • Vehicle loan and loan interest
  • Vehicle repairs
  • Gas and fuel
  • Parking and tolls
  • Vehicle registration
  • Vehicle lease
  • Wash and road services

If uncertain. I suggest consulting an accountant to help you choose the right category for parts purchased to fix a customer's vehicle.

You can check the articles below to see more information about Schedule C categories and how QBSE is designed to help you record your self-employed income and expenses, track mileage, and prepare your Schedule C.
