What happens when you delete a tag?

We are trying to clean up/change the tags we are using starting with the new fiscal year July 2022 and are wondering what happens with transactions that have a certain tag if that tag is deleted? We don't want to mess with our prior year's information, but want to change the way we are tagging/reporting items.

Thanks!

Hey, @Ribbit18

Thanks for joining in on this thread. I can provide you with an answer to your question about deleting a tag.

Yes, if you delete a tag, then it'll also remove the tag from the prior transactions that it's attached to.

Deleting tags won't mess up your recording, Ribbit18.

When you use the Tag feature, the system will group transactions and run reports to see how specific areas of your business are doing. They don't impact your books. Instead, they're a way for your team to track the info that matters most to you.

Thank you for the response. I'm still wondering, if once a tag is deleted from the list, does it delete it from the prior transactions where it was added?
