How about a Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 for scanning directly to Quickbooks 2015 for Mac? I find that my Canon V37 will not.
February 7, 2019

ix500 is a nice scanner but it does not a Twain scanner so it won't work

I have QB Desktop 2017 Are these all compatible with that version?

Glad to see you here in the Community, robertlosciuto.

When using the QuickBooks Scan Manager feature, you'll need to make sure that you're using a TWAIN-compliant scanner. This is to ensure that you'll be able to attach files to your transactions without encountering any issues.

For more information on how to set up QuickBooks Scan Manager and run the TWAIN compatibility tool, check out these articles:

I'm using QuickBooks Desktop 2019 for Mac, and I have not been able to get the program to recognize any scanner so far (using the Attach then Scan icons).  I'd like to use a portable, wireless, rechargeable scanner like the Epson ES-300W.  So far, the unrecognized scanners include the following:

Epson ES-300WR

Epson ES-300W

Brother ADS-1700W

These are all TWAIN compliant scanners, and Quickbooks Desktop 2019 for Mac only gets as far as "Looking for scanner..."

Please help me set up the scanner properly or direct me to a list of portable scanners that are know to work with the Mac Desktop software.

Thank you.

Hello parsintrensiac,

We can run the TWAIN compatibility tool to check whether a scanner is compatible with QuickBooks. Here's an article for the executable file: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1253386.

Once done, go ahead and scan a document again. Let us know if you have more questions.

why doesn't QuickBooks support Apple scan?

Thanks for joining us here, luke68.

For now, Apple Scanner is not on the list of compatible scanner for QuickBooks Enterprise. Please refer to the list in my earlier replies on how to verify if a scanner is compatible or not.

We'll send another feature request about being able to use Apple Scanner for barcode scanning. We're constantly collecting customer feedback and suggestions to be reviewed for future updates.

I have an HP3639 ALL-IN-ONE. Will that work for scanning and incorporating receipts into a Quicken database?

February 14, 2020

Hi @Picard0713,

For concerns regarding Quicken, I suggest contacting their Technical Support team for assistance. They have the necessary tools and resources to check on your query.

When you have the Quicken page open, scroll down and click the Talk To Support button so you can choose to connect either with chat, or phone support.

If you decide to use QuickBooks Desktop, here's an article on how you can set up a barcode scanner: Set up and use barcode scanning in QuickBooks Desktop. Here you can find a list of notes on how you can check if your scanner is compatible.

Have other questions in mind? Post them in the comments below, and I'll get back to you.

I had this same question and resulting problem.  There is nowhere to get guidance on this... even the people supporting this thread have no answers.  I spent almost 3 hours on the phone with QB Support and that also yielded nothing of use... as the scanner I owned (Fujitsu ix500) is not TWAIN driver compatible, even though some places on the internet say it is.

I want to use a typical desktop scanner and don't want to have to use a giant multi-function/all-in-one printer/fax/scanner, and the Fujitsu ones are top of the line, quiet, efficient, and MOST importantly, they can scan Simplex or Duplex (one side or 2 sides) at the click of a button.

I researched this, and found a current model that is TWAIN compatible, the Fujitsu fi-7030.  It is about the size of a medium loaf of bread, and folds up when not in use.  It's around $500 on Amazon.

It has a nice document loader so you can load everything, even as small as a credit card receipt in the auto-feeder.

It is a straight forward installation, power cord and USB Cable.

When you go to download software, they offer a big piece of software for scanning (Paper Stream)... you DO NOT need that for QB use.  You only need the driver from that package called "Paper Stream IP TWAIN".

Then load the "ScanSnap Manager" as well.  This puts a controller in your system tray which you can use for routine scanning.  You load a doc, then right button click the icon and select Simplex or Duplex, and that's it, it does the rest.  It opens a dialog asking where you want to store, send etc.  Very easy.

But the best part, is use in Quickbooks.  Now when you open the Attachment icon anyplace in QB, look at the top of the bar, and you will see a "Scanner" button.  Click that, it opens a QB Scanner Manager.  One time, you will have to select the Fujitsu if-7030, and then it defaults there forever.

Click "Scan"... in a few seconds it will ask if you want to scan front side, back side, both sides... select, and then it scans your doc.

It will open a doc and allow you to name and describe the doc, then hit save, and that's it!

The document is named what you want, and placed right on the document in QB.

I hope this helps.

Max

Thanks for joining the thread, jlowe29. Allow me to add to this discussion and share some information to resolve your concern.

You’ll have to update your QuickBooks software and payroll tax table to the latest version. This way, we can ensure all components are up to date, and this will calculate your payroll taxes correctly.

You can follow these steps to update your QuickBooks software:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose the Update QuickBooks Desktop
  3. Click the Update Now tab.
  4. Put a checkmark inside the Reset the updates box.
  5. Select Get Updates to re-download the updates.
  6. From the QuickBooks Desktop Update Service window, select Install Now.

Once done, let's close and open QuickBooks. Then you can proceed to update your payroll tax table. I’ll show you how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Get Payroll Updates.
  3. Mark the Download Entire Update checkbox.
  4. Click Download Latest Update.

For your reference, you can check out these articles for more information:

Once done, log in to your company file and create paychecks for your employees, just click this article for more details: How do I create a paycheck for an employee?

Also, you can check junk mail and spam folders to verify if the emails were sent there since it's already sent by the system.

However, if the issue persists, I'd recommend getting in touch with our technical supports. This way, we'll be able to look into your account and perform a series of tests to rectify the underlying issue. Here's how to connect with us:

  1. Select Help from the top menu bar,
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Enter your concern in the text box, then click Continue.
  5. Choose Start messaging.

You may check our support hours first to ensure that we address your concerns on time.

Additionally, you can run the Payroll Summary report in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This report shows the payroll items with a subtotal for net pay, plus all the company payroll taxes are shown by employees. Just go to Reports and select Employees and Payroll. Then, click Payroll Summary

That should do it. Please let me know if you need anything else, I’ll be more than happy to help. Thanks for dropping by and take care!

I have seen your list, we bought the EPSON RR-600W, and I am trying to get it set up to scan our credit card receipts.  The one that we have is not on your list but I was hoping it would work.  I am setting up the scanner it is asking me for a intuit email and password.  I have tried mine and it will not work.

What do I need to do to get where I can scan in the receipts?

Thanks,

2 part question:

Is there an updated of cost effective list of scanners? That are compact?

JoesemM
January 3, 2023

Welcome to the Community space, @Cx2Designs.

I'll share insights about the list of scanners and their compatibility with QuickBooks.

At this time, we do not have a complete list of barcode scanners for QuickBooks Desktop. However, these are the list that already tested the compatibility of barcode scanners with QBDT.

  • Brother MFC 7820
  • Canon Lide 600
  • Canon MG5320
  • HP Laserjet 3030
  • HP Deskjet 3050A
  • HP Deskjet F4180
  • Epson Perfection 2450
  • Epson Perfection Scan GT-2500
  • Fujitsu ScanPartner Fi-5110CU
  • Epson Stylus NX430
  • Kodak Hero 3.1
  • Visioneer Strobe XP300
  • Lexmark X5650

Please note any barcode scanner is compatible with QuickBooks as long as it complies with the following formats: support EAN-13 (International Article Number, formerly European Article Number) and Code-128 barcodes and produces a single carriage return at the end of the barcode.

Once you find and the scanner meet the required format, you can enable the barcode option. For more information, see this article: Set up and use barcode scanning in QuickBooks Desktop.

Also, I'll be sharing these references that will guide you in setting up other types of scanners that can help you with your business:
