It's nice to see you here in the Community, @James11_2.

I'd be glad to guide you and provide insight in creating a Journal Entry (JE) for recurring rent expense in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Yes, you have the option to enter a journal entry for each month. To make this process more efficient, you can create a scheduled recurring journal entry template.

In addition to JE, you can create an e-expense or a check. I also recommend consulting with your accountant to determine the appropriate category for your entries.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear Icon.
  2. Under Lists, select Recurring Transactions.
  3. Select New, and find the Journal Entry for transaction type, and click Ok.
  4. Enter a Template name.
  5. Select a Type: Scheduled, Unscheduled, or Reminder.

For more information on creating recurring transactions, refer to this article: Create recurring transactions.

For future reference, you can check this article to guide you on how to reverse a journal entry to swap the debits and credits, or delete it entirely: Reverse or delete a journal entry in QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to drop a comment below, if you have further concerns about the journal entry or other QBO-related concerns. I will answer them in any possible way.
