What to do when I try to save an invoice and "Unexpected Tax Line found. Unable to save transaction." message shows up?

I don't know what it means or how to fix it.

I am also getting this error and support hasn't been able to fix it. Please advise how to resolve this issue. Thank you!

I see the challenges you've been through with the error when saving your invoices. Rest assured, I'm here to share insights and help resolve this. 

 

We can verify the item used when creating an invoice. There may be a glitch when you add the service item. 

 

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our support team directly. We've enhanced the procedure for reaching our support team. You can go directly to the Help menu if you'd like to speak with one of our representatives. This way, they can further investigate what's causing the error.

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. Choose either tab to get started:
  • Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still Talk to a human.
  • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

I am getting this error now and can not create any new invoices. have they found the problem and fixed it?

This just randomly started happening to me. It was still happening to me when opening an Incognito Tab, but I got around it by just creating a generic tax rate with a value of 0%  Not sure if this will be appropriate for everyone, but it is the only way business is able to get our invoices out this month.
