Good day, @onsite1.

Let's ensure we can show your categories when adding an expense.

Before anything else, I'd like to learn which section you try to add an expense, if it's in the Vendor section as a transaction or an item in the Chart of accounts (COA).

In the meantime, let's perform some basic troubleshooting steps to identify if this is a browser-related issue. We'll start by logging in to your account via a private browser to avoid storing cache data files that cause odd behaviors in web-based programs.

Feel free to use the shortcut keys below:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

After that, add an expense and click on the Category tab. Once this works, clear the cache of your default browser to remove old data files.

If the issue persists, utilize another supported browser or device. This happens when the regular system has a temporary issue with the program.

Additionally, you can read this article to help you view detailed reports about expense transactions and categories: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

For additional questions about managing your expense transactions or categories, please return here. I'll be willing to help. Have a good day.
