I have checked out community posts, given feedback to QuckBooks, Chatted and Called Quickbooks and still NO SOLUTION.  Please help if anyone has been able to resolve. So frustrating and time consuming.

I can see the importance of having invoice numbers matched to the random number shown while downloading an invoice. I have a tip on how you can save your downloaded invoice using an invoice number file name, Nicoless.

When downloading an invoice, QuickBooks Online (QBO) always saves a random number for your PDF file. You can rename the filename if you want it saved on a specific filename like invoice number. After you click the download button, it will show you an option to save or rename the file. I've added a screenshot for your reference.

Furthermore, once a customer pays an invoice, you'll have to record the payments to connect to the invoice. To know more on how to do this in QuickBooks Online, check out this article for more details: Record Invoice Payments in QuickBooks Online.
