Question

When I export timeclock info to QBO, it makes all the hours worked as "regular hours" even overtime. How do I fix it so that the hours calculate correctly?

For example, an employee works 43 hours a week. When I export the data from my timeclock, QBO shows it as 43 "regular" hours, versus 40 regular hours / 3 overtime hours (as it should be). Thus far I have had to manually fix it every payroll. I am using an Icon Timesystems Total Pass P600. Any help is appreciated!

Hi there, @HCP_KY. I'll share some details about this matter.

 

Please know that QuickBooks Online relies on what data you provide. Since you're using the Icon Time systems Total Pass P600, I recommend reaching out to the product provider. This way, they'll help you set it up, so it calculates regular hours and overtime separately.

The same thing is happening when using QBO with easy clocking but easy clocking says it's a QBO issue.  It actually says "Unfortunately upon processing the payroll, the hours would still need to be manually separated. The cause of this is a limitation QuickBooks online has set for imports. We apologize for the inconvenience this may case"

 

Is there a way to tell QBO to separate regular time from OT?

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

QuickBooks won't automatically re-allocate time to overtime. Among other things, it doesn't know what your particular rules are for overtime.

 

This should be done by your time clock, before exporting to QuickBooks.  With desktop, it means using a different payroll earnings item. Not sure about online.
