We've got some troubleshooting steps we can perform to get past the error message when creating an invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Mythical madman.

If you access QBO through the web, we can sign in to your account using an incognito/private browser. It could be your browser's cache and cookies are corrupted causing unexpected error messages when creating a transaction. Refer to these shortcut keys:

  • Mozilla Firefox / Internet Explorer: Press CTRL Shift P
  • Safari: Press Command Shift N
  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL Shift N

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. You can also use supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

However, if you access your account using the QBO mobile app iOS, we have an ongoing investigation about this one. Where customers encounter an error message "That didn't work. Call succeed but payload is empty." when creating invoices or estimates. Rest assured, our engineers are working together on the permanent fix.

We recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll add you to the list of affected users and send you an email notification once there's an update on this case.

As a workaround, you can use an Android device or log in to QBO through the web browser.
