Question

When we email an estimate there is a text version of estimate. At the bottom is a pdf of our estimate form with logo etc. Is there a way to remove the text version?

the text version is unnecessary and confusing.  We only want the pdf attached.  I see the Summary and Details option but I cannot select neither one.

Hello designkit11,

Currently, we're unable to remove the text version on an emailed estimates. I'd recommend sharing this idea to our Product Development Team. You can click the Gear icon and select Feedback.

Idea?? I have been sending weekly estimates for years and never had this problem my clients can’t see any details it’s all in text with no details. If this is the new normal it will be a game changer for me.

This is still an issue unless someone has found a way around it. Anyone...?

Quite disappointing.  Resembles MS Dos?

I have similar experience. For some reason, estimates are emailed in plain text as opposed to invoices sent in HTML. it is a bad look. why does this happen and how do we rectify it? it is a weird inconsistency.

thank you

Thanks for joining in on the thread, MGH1.

You are right about the Estimate section of an emailed estimate. The system is using the Plain text. Setting the HTML on the Account and Settings won't take effect in this section because this is a system generated preview.

For now, we still don't have an option in QBO to change or remove this section when emailing the estimates. I'd recommend posting to our Intuit Developer Forum. We have engineers, developers, and fellow QuickBooks users that might be able to share their opinion regarding your concern.

  1. Go to this link and log in using your Intuit account: https://help.developer.intuit.com/s.
  2. Select QuickBooks Online under the What do you need help with? section.
  3. Click Ask a Question and enter the details of your concern.
  4. Click Ask.

Just like in the Community, your post will be displayed in the form and anyone with knowledge or idea about will join the conversation.

Agreed. It looks tacky. Plus my quotes are fixed price, not estimates.

Have spent all day setting up my quotes in QBO. Not overly impressed. Am going to see whether Xero is any better.

Would love to know if there is now a fix for this, when emailing out an estimate; layout looks very messy with text estimate version right on top of the pdf version, any fix?

I'll take care of this query for you, @James1422.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), email options are currently exclusive for invoices. The option to change an estimate to HTML when you email it is unavailable. A workaround I can provide is to download the PDF version of your estimate, then send it to your customer using an email outside QBO.

Check out this article as well: Copy an estimate to a purchase order. You can use the steps from this article when you have an approved estimate from a customer, and you need to purchase those items from a vendor.

Feel free to drop a comment below if you have other questions about estimates in QBO. I'll be sure to get back to you. Enjoy the rest of the day!

This is absolutely ridiculous, These are basic things that should not need long discussions. I have just started trying out QB and I am so disappointed in this... The first thing a new customer sees from me is a quote... If there is no solution to this I will def opt out of QB
