Question

Why didn't my fixed assets depreciation entry post automatically this month?

I think it might be due to fact that I rearranged my chart of accounts for reporting purposes.  Fixed Assets won't let me edit the account since there are already posted entries.

Hello there, @nmills-thecommon.

It would be my pleasure to help provide clarification about fixed asset depreciation in QuickBooks Online (QBO)

When using the fixed asset feature in QBO, it helps compute depreciation of fixed assets based on the standards published by the IRS. Upon rearranging, it'll sync the application to your QuickBooks, which contains personal data related to your business. That's why calculations were automatically posted. The program uses these dates to automatically compute prior year depreciation when an asset is entered.

IRS also has an article you can check on how to depreciate. You can click this link: https://www.irs.gov/publications/p946.

I've also added these articles to help you manage and move your fixed asset data to your new device:

Don't hesitate to get back in here if you have other concerns about fixed assets. I'll be glad to assist you. Have a pleasant day.

From Sept - February the depreciation entry posted automatically for the month. For March it didn't.  How do I get it to record and show up on the Fixed Asset Depreciation Detail? I can do a JE to get the GLs correct, but that won't affect the Fixed Asset Depreciation Detail .
