Question

Why does QBO say "w-9 missing" on my list of Contractors? I can view the w-9 that is attached to the contractor/vendor if i edit the vendor in the vendor list.

Good day, markaaronritchie.  It's my priority to help you resolve the error code you encountered in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times when the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses.

Let's start accessing your account using a different or private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once logged in, try to edit the vendor. If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache. Doing so will remove the historical data and access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also switch to a different supported browser.

I'm also adding this article that you can read for guidance in case you run into some issues in your 1099: Troubleshoot common 1099 issues.

Let me know if there's anything I can help further about fixing error codes in QBO. We are always available in the Community to assist you. Keep safe.
