Question

Why doesn't an address change made on the contractor's self employment site bridge over to Quickbooks?

We appreciate you reaching out to us in the Community, Peggy46. I'm glad to provide a brief overview of the process for updating a contractor's address in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

QuickBooks will send an email to your contractor, asking them to complete and submit their W-9 information. They will either log in with an existing Intuit account or create a new account to securely share their tax details with you. Afterward, they will input their W-9 information and digitally sign the form. Once this is done, their information will be saved in their account.

If the contractor makes any updates to their information in their account, QuickBooks will automatically update it in your account as well.

Additionally, when your contractor submits their W-9, both their information and a PDF of the signed W-9 will be added to their profile in your account. You can review your QuickBooks Contractor Payments account as follows:

  1. Go to Payroll and select Contractors.
  2. Choose the contractor’s name.
  3. Click the Details tab to see the contractor's personal info and the Documents tab to see a copy of the W-9.

For a comprehensive understanding of the process, I recommend referring to this article: Invite a contractor to add their own tax info. This resource provides detailed steps for contractors to input their tax information in QuickBooks Online.
