Why is a manually entered credit card charge showing as a payment and not an expense

Firstly, I'd like to ask how you record your credit card transactions in QBO. Typically, it should appear as an expense rather than a payment. If it turns out that you recorded it differently, I recommend deleting the initial transaction and recording it again using the given steps.

 

Here's how to enter a credit card charge:

 

  1. Click Expense in the +New.
  2. In the Payment Account dropdown menu, select the credit card account.
  3. Choose the credit card type in the Payment method dropdown list.
  4. Fill in the necessary information to record.
  5. If done, hit Save and Close.
