Question

Why is it saying I need to contact an administrator to create an invoice when I am the administrator?

I have been using this account for over 5 years and have created many invoices. For some reason its not letting me create one now saying I need to contact an admin.

I can think of two possible scenarios for why you're unable to create invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO), ericmnyberg. I'll discuss the details below.

Firstly, though you're the administrator, you may have unintentionally used the logged-in credential of a user (only if you're not the only user in the account) that has limited customers and accounts receivable access. You'll have to make sure you sign in using your own login information to have access to every part of your QuickBooks account.

Secondly, if you're already using your administrator's login credentials, the error you've encountered might be due to your browser's cache. With this, you'll have to clear or remove those outdated ones to prevent potential viewing and performance issues with QBO.

Start by returning to your default or normal browser and clear its cache. Please select the appropriate link below:

After that, restart your browser and log back into your QBO account to refresh the system. Then, go to the + New button to create a new invoice.

Furthermore, when your customers pay your invoices, record those payments to balance your income accounts. For the step-by-step guide on how to do this, you can check out this article: Receive invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

You can always get back to this thread if you have other concerns about managing your invoices and income transactions with QBO. I'm always ready to help you out.
