Question

Why is QBO rounding prices in invoices? Before if I put a price like $99.90 it would stay as $99.90, but now it changes to $99 and I can't find any setting to stop this.

Or if I enter $10.00, it also changes it to $10 in the display (but $10.00 when printed), which seems like it might be a related issue. It didn't used to do this even just a week ago.

    Before anything else, I highly suggest checking your settings to ensure it was set properly. 

     

    Here's how:
     

    1. Click Gear Icon.
    2. Select Account and Settings.
    3. Go to Advanced.
    4. Click the Pencil Icon.
    5. Under Other Preferences, check the number format if the decimal is included or if is it under Dollar only.

     

    If there are no changes to the settings, I suggest using a private window that doesn't temporarily store files. QuickBooks Online is sometimes poorly configured due to overloaded site data.

     

    To open an incognito window, you can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:
     

    • Google Chrome: Press Crtl+Shift+P
    • Microsoft Edge & Mozilla Firefox: Crtl+Shift+N
    • Safari: Press Command+Shift+N

     

    If you're still having the same result, I suggest utilizing other supported browsers. It will help us identify if the issue is specific to your current browser.

     

    If your invoice rate finally shows the format, you want while using the incognito, I suggest returning to your usual browser and clearing its cache and cookies.

    This solution through Advanced settings does not help. There is no "Number" option. Just Currency. So the choice is whether to put the $ sign or use a comma or period for 1,000s. Every option has only 2 digits after the decimal point.

    I spoke at length with first level troubleshooting at QBO yesterday. He told me that QBO limits the decimal points to 2. I can understand in the final total of a bill or invoice. That makes sense. But NOT in the rates. That means if I push an Invoice or convert a PO to a bill, it will round the per unit rate down to the nearest cent. BY DESIGN!!!!

    I don't think it was always this way but it is costing me MONEY and has caused me to shortpay vendors.

    eg. I bill my customer $10,790 for 75,000 printed flyers, matching last year's price. A flyer, which works out to $.1439 is rounded down to $.14 automatically by QBO, resulting in a loss of $255.00.

     

    The answer is not for me to have to examine every bill and invoice and make sure they match the correct price. The option above to reset your decimal amounts for per unit rates needs to be reinstated by QBO. Or, allow me to eliminate the rate function on bills and invoices. Which I was told is not possible either. having it not show on the Invoice is NOT the same thing. That just hides it from the customer but does not change the calculation. 

    I cannot believe this isn't a huge issue for other people... anyone? Is there an answer?
