Question

Why is Quickbooks Online constantly duplicating my credit card entries? It's constantly happening even after I exclude them from the journal.

Hi there, Natesphotog

I can share some information and help you handle duplicate credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Before proceeding, can you tell me the name of your financial institution? This allows me to check our system to see if there are any known issues, specifically from your bank, that are causing duplicate entries just like the one you are currently experiencing.

Technically, if the same credit card transaction is imported twice, duplicate credit card entries in QuickBooks Online may occur. This can happen if there are multiple connections between your bank and QuickBooks Online, or if there is a synchronization problem during the import process. It's also possible that manual entry errors or accidental duplication of transactions within QuickBooks Online can lead to duplicate credit card entries.

Other than that, If a downloaded transaction is a duplicate of one you already recorded in your books, you can exclude them straight from your bank feeds. Here's an article as a reference: Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.

You can also check out this resource to learn more about dealing with duplicate credit card entries: Handle duplicate credit card transactions in QuickBooks.

Furthermore, it's important to carefully review and reconcile your transactions regularly to identify and remove any duplicates. See this link for the complete reconciliation guide: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.

Feel free to add more details or ask any follow-up questions about banking. I'll be here to assist. Have a great weekend!
