Question

1. How to add a line in the middle of an invoice, not the last line. 2. How to delete an estimate which already created an invoice? Thanks.

Hi emily-wiklow-com,

Being able to customize your estimates and invoices is something QuickBooks Online makes easy. I'd be happy to walk you through how to edit and delete them.

When you create an invoice and need to add more lines to it you can do so by clicking the add lines button that is just under the last line showing. This however will only add the lines at the bottom of the invoice, but I'll share a little trick with you. If you click on the square beside the line number you can arrange them however you want including moving a blank link up to the middle. As for deleting an estimate that was used to create an invoice once the invoice is made you it links to that estimate so it can't be deleted unless you delete the invoice also.

If deleting an estimate after making an invoice is a feature you wish to have included  I suggest sending feedback to our developers by following these steps:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions then select Next.
  3. You'll be provided a list of suggested Help articles related to your comment. You can read through them or select Skip and send message.
  4. From the drop-down, choose the appropriate category, then select Send message.

Also If you have further questions I'd recommend contacting our support team using one of the following options.

Schedule a Callback or Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat. Support is available from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.
