Hi there ryan-mitchell-rd,

It's vital for all your invoices to be entered properly so that your income can be well represented in your books. QuickBooks Online is a great tool allowing you to create and send invoices for your customers all while having them accounted for in your books. I can provide some information about invoices.

When creating an invoice, it should affect your accounts receivable as well as your income accounts associated to the products and services you've chosen for the lines of the transaction. The payment you then create for the invoice should reduce your accounts receivable as well as affect the payment account you've chosen, such as a bank account or assets like undeposited funds. This money movement will remain separate. In order to view the money movement of an invoice, navigate to the Sales tab, then Invoices. Click on the Invoice in question, then Edit to view its contents. At the bottom of the page, click on the More option to select transaction Journal. This will show you the accounts affected in your books by the transaction.
