Good morning usersoulfriendsclean,

I hope your weekend is going well! This is an AWESOME newer feature that just got rolled out in the US QBO not too long ago, which hopefully makes it to Canada some time soon! There's been a lot of positive feedback since QuickBooks Online has a lot of service industry entrepreneurs that would really benefit from the extra generosity from their customers.

In combination with a Merchant Service account it really is a huge benefit to service industry QuickBooks Online users.

The best way to get a new feature added in QuickBooks Online is by submitting a feedback inside of your QuickBooks Online product. From there the engineers review and update as they see the demand growing for a specific need or want of a feature in QBO.

How do I submit feedback?

Let's hope to see this one is soon in our products because it would be awesome! I hope you have an awesome rest of the weekend.

Kindest Regards,
Lourdes Fernandez

Is there any timeline for Canadian users to have the option for tips for our invoices?

Thanks for reaching out to us for updates with being able to add tips on QuickBooks Online invoices, @Cory Antrim.

We recognize the need to have the additional invoicing options and preferences. However, I want you to know that any changes in the program is released based on certain several factors. We're unable to provide the turnaround time on when new features are released in QuickBooks, since these are handled by the Developers Team.

Please know that you can share your suggestion within the program through sending a product feedback while this is still unavailable. Follow the steps below in a web browser:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion for our engineers on the Feedback box.
  3. Once done, press Next to send it.

All our program features and enhancements are launched and created with you in mind. To be updated with the recent and upcoming changes for QuickBooks products, visit these sites:

For now, you can add the tips as a service item in QuickBooks and apply it to your invoices. Here's how:

  1. Go to Get paid & pay or the Sales tab.
  2. Tap Products and services
  3. Select New.
  4. Choose Service.
  5. Give the item a name.
  6. From the Category ▼ dropdown, select the category that best describes the fee. Learn more about item categories.
  7. Fill out the rest of the fields as needed.
  8. When you're done, select Save and close.

Once done, apply the item in the Product/Service dropdown of your invoices..

If you have any questions or need further help with QuickBooks and its sales transactions, feel free to visit us anytime. You can also mention my name on your posts. I'll be right here to assist you.

Hi there usersoulfriendsclean,

Tips are an important portion of income for many businesses, so I know how crucial it is to have the correct steps to record those tips. While there isn't a specific feature or field built-in to QuickBooks Online for this purpose, there's a step-by-step process you can follow to set up tips. Let me go over this with you.

Recording the tips you and your employees receive starts with creating a specific liability account for Gratuity or Tips. Once that's done, you'll want to set up a Product/Service item to represent your Tips or Gratuity. You can then add this amount directly to your employee's cheque, or directly within a sales transaction. The full step-by-step guide for this process can be found in the article below:

If your customer has overpaid on an Invoice and asks you to keep the extra as a tip, here's how to Record an invoice overpayment as a tip.

If you have further questions about this process, don't hesitate to reach out again here in the Community. I'd be happy to assist you should you need it. Have a great week!
