Can I get a BC Ministry of Finance (PST) REPORT to be calculated on PAID invoices rather than date invoiced.

Hi useroffice3,

I'm glad to hear that you're making use of the sales tax module in your QuickBooks Online account. QuickBooks Online allows you to decide how you want to view your reports on a cash or accrual basis. It sounds like you're viewing your reports in the accrual accounting method. Let me explain how that affects your accounts.

When you're using an accrual accounting method, your revenue or expense is recognized by your system when recorded. This is the reason that your report is calculating the taxes based on the invoice date. To have your account recognize them when the money changes hands, you'd need to be using a cash accounting method. I've included some articles for you that explain the differences and how they affect your sales tax and reports:

If you want to view the report on a cash accounting basis, you can choose Cash at the top of the page, shown in the following diagram. The picture says GST/HST Summary, but it appears in the same place in all reports.

If you're looking at changing the method you're using in your QuickBooks Online account, I suggest you reach out to your accountant before doing so to find out what effects this will have on your books. If you don't have an accountant, you can find one familiar with QuickBooks through this link: Find an Accountant.

If you have any questions regarding your QuickBooks Online program, please let me know. I'll be here. Take care.
