Question

Can I save recurring locations for trips? I use to be able to just type Home or Work and the address would come up. How do I achieve this in the new online interface?

Hi eric73,

I love this idea! The less work for you, the better, and I can see how something as simple as not having to re-enter trip information every time when you have repeated trips would save you some work. I'll gladly go over the mileage interface in QuickBooks Online.

When working with the Mileage tab when using a browser or the QuickBooks Online app for Windows/Mac, it's easy to add trips by clicking Add Trip. There isn't a way to set up a recurring trip or recurring locations at this time, however, here's what you can consider for trips that repeat themselves.

After logging a trip, the program will move it to the Reviewed section of that page. You can also see it under the All heading as well. Regardless of which you section you choose, when you have a trip that has been reviewed and logged, the program gives you a few options under the aptly-named Options column. Select the More button beside a trip, then choose Duplicate. This launches the New Trip panel with the information from the trip you just selected and allows you to change details as needed, including the date. Once you've changed it to what you need, click Save and you'll now see two trips without having had to manually enter the address information again.

The Mileage section is still something the product development team is growing and enhancing, so we'd love to have your thoughts about it. Select the Share feedback button on the Mileage tab to share your ideas, such as being able to set up recurring trips or locations.

Here's an article with more information about the feature: Set up mileage tracking and vehicles in QuickBooks Online

I hope this helps!
