I also get "Customer assigned to this transaction has been deleted. Before you can modify this transaction, you must restore Square Customer (deleted)"

when I try to delete an individual invoice

Hello again gewow,

Thanks for the update about this error message coming up when you're trying to delete these transactions that were entered from Square in QuickBooks Online. I've read through the thread, and I can help take it from here to get you back on track.

Since the program is prompting you to restore the deleted "Square Customer" profile, that's where I recommend starting to resolve this. When it comes to changing transactions related to a deleted customer, it can mean reactivating the customer first, deleting the entries, and then making the customer inactive again afterward. It's a fairly easy process.

  1. Hover over Sales in the left menu.
  2. Choose Customers.
  3. Select the small gear icon above the ACTION column of the customer list.
  4. Choose Include inactive.
  5. Select Make active beside the Square Customer.

Once you've done that, go through and try to delete the transactions again. When you're done with those, you can head back to the Customers section, click the Square Customer name, choose Edit, and then Make inactive. Here's an article with more details about managing customers: Add and manage customers in QuickBooks Online

Give that a shot and keep us posted with how it goes! We're here for you.

Hi gewow,

It's great to see that you're looking to learn more about your program. QuickBooks Online makes short work of these types of tasks, and I can help you with the steps.

To delete unwanted sales receipts/invoices, follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to Sales from the left navigation menu.
  2. Choose the All Sales tab.
  3. In the Action, column click the dropdown arrow next to the transactions you wish to remove and select Delete. Continue until all the transactions are deleted.

You can review these steps in more detail in this article: Void or delete transactions in QuickBooks Online. Reach back out if you have any questions.

Have a great night!

Hi Tammy

thanks for your reply

they are actually not in "all sales"

they are in 'invoices" and beside each one it says under customer "square customer (deleted)

then when i select all invoices to be deleted, it says:

"Some of these invoices are linked to other transactions. Are you sure you want to delete them?"

I select yes, then:

"There was a problem deleting some of your transactions. Please try again later."

Any other tips? thanks!
