Hello userthebeanlover24,

It's great that you'd like to connect your card reader to QuickBooks and I'll be happy to help. QuickBooks is a versatile program that makes it simple to complete many of the accounting tasks in your business.

Currently, our Payments system accepts payments online via an invoice or a sales receipt. I encourage you to learn more about our Payments feature using this link here. The good news is you can still connect a card reader to your account, however, you'd have to sync the transactions using a third-party app which you can search for on our site using this link. Say for example you're using the Square Payments card reader, you'd have to use a third-party app such as this one here to seamlessly sync your transactions. I'd encourage you to go with the app that suits your business needs based on the app description and their user reviews.

Let me know if this answers your question. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask in the comments below. I've got your back.

Hi James thanks for your response. I don't use any card reader yet and I've read that QB has their own card reader and I am wondering about that. Is it possible for me to get one? Is it available here in Canada?

Hello userthebeanlover24,

I'd be happy to clarify this with you to make sure that you have the information you need for working with a card reader and QuickBooks Online. I'm glad to see you've been doing some research into this, and I know it can sometimes be tricky to sort out which details apply where. In this case, your question about whether this is available for Canada is a good one to ask. Canada's QuickBooks Payments option doesn't include a card reader at this time, and the information you came across may have been for the US's QuickBooks Payments option. You can learn more about QuickBooks Payments Canada here: QuickBooks Online Payments Canada

If a card reader is important for operating your business, I recommend researching third-party services and options that may connect with QuickBooks. In these cases, they wouldn't use QuickBooks Payments, but rather be their own standalone service. There are a number of services that connect with QuickBooks to keep data entry simple, and you can research these using the link to apps that my colleague shared in his response or by using the Apps tab in QuickBooks Online.

I welcome you to submit feedback to our product development team about this so that they can learn the ways you'd like to use the program. Feedback from users helps us enhance and grow the software. Here's how to leave feedback: How do I submit feedback? Another page you can bookmark is the QuickBooks Online Feature & Product Updates page so that you can be in the know when new features are released.

I hope this helps clarify matters, but don't hesitate if you have further questions. :)
