Hello Claude!

Creating Estimates in QuickBooks Online is easy! The form looks similar to an Invoice, but it's an awesome feature that allows you to create a sort of proposal for your customer that can then be turned into an Invoice if necessary. I want to go over the steps to create an Estimate so you can confirm that you're on the right track.

Here's how to create an Estimate in QuickBooks Online:

  1. Hit the + New button and select Estimate.
  2. Select the Customer, enter the appropriate dates, and proceed to fill in the Product/Service information.
  3. Ensure that you've selected the appropriate Sales Tax codes, and include a Message if necessary.
  4. Use the green button with a dropdown to select either Save and send or Save and close to ensure that your Estimate has been saved.

Step 4 above emphasizes how to save the Estimate so that it gets created correctly. I've seen users simply hit the Save button, and then overwrite the info they already entered in order to create a new transaction. This is essentially like writing a letter on one piece of paper then erasing it and writing over it again. You won't have multiple letters at the end, just one piece of paper that you've written on several times. In QuickBooks you'll be left with one saved Estimate at the end with the most recent data you entered. If this is what you've done, I hope learning about the green Save and send or Save and close button is helpful.

If you've been saving your Estimates correctly, it's possible that there's a problem within your internet browser or app that's causing the issue you're experiencing. I'd like you to try the browser and internet troubleshooting steps below, then attempt to create and save another Estimate. The images and files stored in your browser's cache can cause problems with the way QBO functions, so this is a great way to determine the cause of the problem.

Let me know if this advice doesn't quite hit the mark so I can provide you with some additional steps to take. It's important to me that you're able to successfully create Estimates in QuickBooks Online.

Enjoy your weekend!
