How can I change an invoice from the Customer to a Project after a QB credit card payment has automatically been applied to the invoice?

Thanks for reaching out to Community.  The QuickBooks Online Projects feature is a great tool for managing and tracking specific jobs and keeping your books organized.  The option to transfer a paid invoice to an existing project isn't available at this time.  The invoice will be reopened and the payment will be unapplied.  If you'd like to proceed and reapply the payment, I'll show you how!

To transfer an invoice to a project, follow these steps:

1. From the left menu, select Sales

2. Open the Invoices tab

3. Select the invoice you'd like to move

4. From the Customer drop-down, choose the Project 

5. When finished, hit Save and Close

Reapply the payment by going to:

1. Projects from the left menu bar

2. Select the Project

3. From the drop-down on the Add to Project tab, choose Receive Payment

4. Choose the Invoice from the list and Record the Payment

5. When finished, hit Save and Close
