Question

How do I record payments deposited into a bank account not linked to Quickbooks online?

I recently started an LLC, but before I opened a business checking account I received payments that were deposited into my personal checking account. My personal checking account is not (and never will) be linked to QBO. How should I record this income?

Hi there davisb,

It's vital that all your transactions are correctly entered so that your books are well balanced. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help you keep track of your expenses and sales so you can see the profit of your business.  I can provide some information about keeping track of money.

You can create a bank account in the system without having it connected to keep track of transactions manually. You can do so by going to the Accounting section, then Chart of accounts. Click New, then you can add an account with the Bank account type. This can be used to keep track of only the transactions that affect the business so you know the amount owed to you personally.
