How do I refund a credit card payment?The instructions in the help section are not helpful.

I am trying to refund a payment from a client as they have cancelled and I am not having any luck finding how to do this. I cannot find anywhere that will allow me to do this on QuickBooks.

I appreciate you reaching out to the Community for support. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help keep your books balanced. Recording transactions correctly is an important step in maintaining clean books. Let me show you how to refund a payment in QuickBooks Online. 

 

  1. From the Customer dropdown, select the customer you want to issue a refund to.
  2. Enter the details in the fields using the same info from the original sale.
  3. Select the payment method and the account from which you wish to refund the customer.
  4. Select Save and close.
