Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online is an exceptional program that allows you to complete all of your bookkeeping tasks with confidence.  I'll be happy to provide more details so you're on the right track with your QuickBooks goals!

 

In situations when you need to include surcharges or service fees, they can be manually added to new or existing invoices.  Let's get started!

 

First, you'll need to create a fee item.  Here's how:

 

1. Go to the top right of your QuickBooks dashboard and open Settings

2. Select Products and services and then New and choose Service

3. Give the item a Name

4. Use the Category ▼ dropdown to choose what best describes the fee

5. Complete the remaining required fields

6. Hit Save and close when finished

Note:  You can change the fee amount on an invoice if you don't charge a standard fee.

 

Follow these steps to add the fee to an invoice;

 

1. Open Sales and then Customers from the left menu

2. Locate the Customer and open the invoice

3. In the Product/Service column, select the fee item you just created

4. Enter a Message on invoice about the fee as you see necessary

5. When complete, hit Save and close or Save and send
