Hello jobs3,

This is a great question. One of the beauties of QuickBooks Online is that it takes care of the back-end journal entry for transactions like invoices so you don't have to worry about figuring out which accounts go where. However, I know that it's still useful to keep an eye on these details, and I'd be happy to show you how you can pull up a journal entry for an invoice you've just created.

When you create an invoice, you have a few options, such as Save or Save and closeSave and new, and Save and send. If you're hoping to see the journal entry right away, I recommend clicking Save so that the invoice stays open, but even if you've closed out of it, that's okay. Simply re-open the invoice, which you can do by selecting it from the All salesInvoices, or even Customer tabs under the Sales section of the program.

On an invoice transaction that's pulled up, simply click More at the bottom, and then Transaction journal. This will open a report that shows you the debits and credits on the invoice. If you'd like to see how multiple transactions look at once as debits and credits, I recommend heading to the Reports tab and running the Journal report. You can customize it to show only certain transaction types and dates if you'd like, too. This article can help with that: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online

I hope this helps you get the information you're looking for. Don't hesitate to leave a reply if you'd like further clarification!
