Question

How do you add a deduction to your invoice? for example is someone owes me 1000 for my service and they deduct from me 150 that I owe them and pay me a balance of 850. Can I just add that as a deduction to the same invoice?

Hi junaid-gelani,

It's marvellous to see new members drawing on the knowledge and support of the QuickBooks Community. QuickBooks Self-Employed is a barebones version of QuickBooks that captures your transactions specifically for tax purposes. I can point you in the right direction.

This link, Record a barter transaction, is for QuickBooks Online, and I know you don't have the same options. I wanted to share it with you so you'd have an idea of how these types of transactions can be entered. You may want to reach out to your accountant to verify how they'd like you to enter the payment you've received. If you don't have an accountant you use, you can find one through this link: Find an Accountant

Thanks for reaching out, and know I'll be here if you need anything. Take Care.
