Hi there pondball,

Making sure you receive your customers' payments is an important part of running your business. QuickBooks Online is a great tool to help manage both your invoicing as well as your accounting in a single program. I can provide you some assistance.

In order to include the middle initial while adding a payment, add the middle initial after a space beside the first name. Make sure to include just the letter and no special characters like a period. If after trying this you still receive an error, I recommend getting in touch with our Merchant services team. They'll be able to assist you with error messages received when trying to process payments in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to ask any other questions here.

Thanks Alex

I've passed that info on to the customer for them to hav a go at.

They have also informed me that they précised their first name with Mr so I am assuming it would then be input as MR PETE B in the first name box then their last name in the last name box.

They were concerned about a double charge but I can't see that happening as I don't believe the first charge would have made it to the final Pay button.
