How to customize sales order template to only print inventory items.

When we write our quotes, there are usually comment lines or service items that are used to insert default text, such as scopes of work, or various disclaimers.

 

For supply-only sales, we print a sales order set to a packing list template to use as a packing list on the package. I know that if I hit the print button dropdown, I can print the default pick list, which only prints actual inventory items and non-inventory items. I'd like to be able to have one or two of my custom templates behave in the same way, but can't find any way to do so.

Hi there don18,

 

It's awesome to see that you're using QuickBooks Enterprise! It's a fabulous version of our Desktop platform that allows a hands-on approach to your accounting and setup.

 

I can see how what you're looking for here would be useful as it's important to have only the information we need on the forms you're sending. In this case, there isn't a way to customize a sales order so that it only populates inventory items when it prints.

 

From what you've described, it sounds like you're creating a sales order from an estimate. What I recommend instead is removing the unnecessary service items from the sales order, as the message that pops up when you click Create sales order from an estimate indicates. Take a look at the message I'm referring to below.

 

 

Removing items from the sales order won't negatively affect the estimate that you're creating it from. The estimate will remain the same and allow you to create an invoice from it later, for instance.

 

I hope that helps sort this out. I know deleting unnecessary items can be a little extra work for you. I encourage you to submit feedback about what you're looking for by going to the Help menu and choosing Send Feedback Online. Many of the things requested through this avenue have become features in the program.
