Hello bookkeeping@femm,

I love that you're exploring the ways to work with QuickBooks Online's Receipts feature to enter your transactions and accompanying data into the software. This feature is a useful tool for taking some of the work out of the process, and I'd be happy to clarify how it works so that you can move forward with managing your data.

From what you've described here, it sounds like you've gone through the process of setting up a customized email through the feature to email your receipts to the program for categorization. When you use this process, all the program does is take the image from the email and ignores any body and text information you include with it. The process is designed simply to offer another way to upload the images to the program and isn't for including extra information. You can read all about it here: Capture and categorize expense receipts and bills in QuickBooks Online

When you have extra information you'd like to include about the transaction, what you can do is add those details during the expense or bill creation process. The page includes a memo field where you can copy and paste the additional details there to make sure they're included.

Another option after the transaction is created is to open it back up and then include the information you'd like as an attachment if you have it as a separate document. To do that, navigate to the Reviewed tab in the Receipts section of your books, select the hyperlinked transaction in the Linked Record column, and then include the attachment by scrolling to the Attachments section and adding it. This article has more information about attachments in QuickBooks Online, including supported file types, and may be useful to you: Attachments in QuickBooks Online

Our team is always open to feedback, and if this is something you'd like to leave your comments about, click the Give feedback button on the Receipts page. You can describe the enhancements you'd like to see to this feature and then your comments will be forwarded to the product development team for consideration.

I hope this has helped clarify the options. I'll be around if you have further questions.
