Hello bmcfarlane,

I'm glad to have you join us in the QuickBooks Online Community! It sounds like you're just getting set up in the program. Mistakes happen and I know it makes a big difference to have customers versus suppliers, so I want to make sure you get this sorted out. I'm here to help.

QuickBooks Online treats customers and suppliers as different entities, meaning that you can't simply transfer one to the other. In this case, making the suppliers inactive and then re-creating your customers in the customer centre. Here are the steps to make the supplier inactive.

  1. Hover over Expenses, then choose Suppliers.
  2. Select Make inactive in the drop-down menu beside the supplier you want to make inactive.

This will remove the supplier from the supplier list and other areas you'd see supplier names unless you make them active again. Next, here's how you can create a customer.

  1. Hover of the Sales tab and choose Customers.
  2. Select Add customer to add a new customer.

That should get you back on track, but don't be afraid to ask more questions.
