Question

I read there is a 2.9% fee if the client is using online credit card payment. Is that fee charged to me after the transaction? Can i add the fee to the client invoice ?

Hi gestiong3n-gmail,

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online Payments is a dynamic way to ensure your customers pay on time.  It's important that you have a full understanding of the associated fees.  I'd be glad to help!

You can view the Intuit payments pricing schedule here.  Although there currently isn't a way to automatically apply the associated fees to your invoices, you can manually add the service fees as a line item.  Here's how;

1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Products and services

2. Hit New, then select Service

3. Enter a service Name

4. From the Category ▼ dropdown, select the category that best describes the fee. Find out more about item categories.

5. Complete the rest of the fields

6. Hit Save and close.

Note: If you don't charge a standard fee, you can change the fee amount on the invoice.

Follow these steps to add the fee to the invoice;

If you’ve already sent them their invoice, create an invoice with the service fee. If you haven’t sent the invoice, make sure to add it before sending it.

1. Go to Sales and select Invoices

2. Select the invoice you want to add a service fee to

3. Edit invoice

4. From the Product/service ▼ dropdown, select the service fee you created

  • (Optional) In the Amount field, enter the amount of the service fee.
  • (Optional) In the Message on invoice section, add a note about the fee.

5. Hit Save and send or Save and close.
