Question

I would like using our invoice system to track quoted jobs. Can I create an invoice without creating an invoice number which goes into the accounting system

Hello,

Keeping an eye on quoted jobs is crucial for your business growth. The great news is, QuickBooks Online lets you easily create estimates (also known as quotes) to give your customers. Using invoices in the way you describe wouldn't work in this case. I'll gladly walk you through how to create an estimate:

  1. Select the (+) icon.
  2. Under Customers, select Estimate.
  3. Select a Customer (choose a status on the drop-down menu under the customer's name if needed).
  4. Verify the Estimate Date, then enter the Expiration Date if you wish.
  5. Enter the estimate details.
  6. Select Save.
